How To Get Your Logo Ready For Embroidery (And Preview It On A T-Shirt First)

Which files we can use, what to avoid, and a free 3D preview before you order.

⏱ 48-Hour Turnaround 🧵 Logos Done In-House 🚚 + Postage & Packaging

Most people have a logo somewhere, on a business card, a website or an old invoice, but not everyone knows which file to send us. The short answer is: send what you have, and we'll sort the rest.

Here's what makes a logo easy to work with, what to avoid, and how to see it on a T-shirt, free, before you order anything.

Which Files Can We Use?

Almost any. JPG, PNG, PDF, AI and EPS all work, and you can email them to hello@workwearprinting.com or drop them in via WhatsApp. If you're ordering through the shop, you can upload your logo right in the basket.

If you have a choice, a vector file (AI, EPS or a vector PDF) gives the cleanest result because it can be enlarged or shrunk without going soft. That matters most for cut vinyl, where the shape of every letter is traced. But don't worry if you don't have one: a clear, high-resolution image is usually enough for us to work from.

Five Quick Tips For A Better Result

Use the biggest, clearest copy you can find. A logo saved from a social media profile picture is often tiny and blurry. The original file from your designer, or the copy used to make your signage, is usually far better.

Remove the background. If your logo sits on a white or coloured box, tell us, or send a version with a transparent background (a PNG is the usual way to do this). We only want the logo, not the square around it.

Know your colours. Thread and vinyl come in set colours, so we match as closely as we can to what you send. If you have a brand colour code, include it.

Think about small text. Very small lettering is the number one thing that goes wrong in stitching, because thread has a thickness that ink doesn't. If your logo has a tiny strapline, it may need to be made larger or left off. Our guide to why embroidery text goes wrong explains why.

Don't redraw it yourself. A logo that's been retyped or traced in a hurry rarely looks like the original. Send the real thing and let us handle it.

What Happens Next: Free Digitising

For embroidery, your artwork has to be turned into a stitch file, telling the machine where every stitch goes, in what direction and in which colour. That's called digitising, and we do it ourselves, by hand, in-house. It's free, there's no set-up fee, and we keep your file on record so reorders are quick. If we think something in your logo won't stitch well, we'll tell you before we start and suggest a fix. Nothing is made until you've approved it.

See It On A T-Shirt First: The Free Logo Configurator

Once your logo is ready, you don't have to guess how it will sit on a garment. Our free Logo Configurator puts it on a 3D T-shirt so you can see it for yourself.

It takes a couple of minutes:

There's no sign-up, nothing to install and no price in the tool, so it's a pure look-and-feel check. If you're happy with it, email the saved images to hello@workwearprinting.com and we'll turn them into a quote, so we know exactly what you're picturing. You can read more about how it came about in our post on the Logo Configurator.

Ready When You Are

Whether your logo is a crisp vector file or a photo of a van door on your phone, send it over. We'll tell you honestly what will work, which method suits it best (our guide to embroidery, vinyl or DTF helps with that), and what it will cost. There's no minimum order, and most jobs are ready in 48 hours.

Questions

What file types can you use for my logo?

Almost anything. JPG, PNG, PDF, AI and EPS all work, and you can email it or send it by WhatsApp. Vector files (AI, EPS or a vector PDF) give the sharpest result, especially for cut vinyl, but a clear, high-resolution image is usually enough for us to work from.

Do I have to pay to have my logo digitised?

No. We digitise every logo in-house for free, with no set-up fees, and we keep your logo and artwork files on record for reorders at no charge.

What if my logo is a small, low-quality image?

Send it anyway. We will tell you honestly whether it's usable. If the image is too blurry or small to work from cleanly, we may ask for a better copy, for example from whoever designed your logo or from the original file on your computer.

Does the Logo Configurator cost anything or need a sign-up?

No. It is free, runs in your web browser, and needs no sign-up and nothing to download.

Can I try my logo on a garment other than a T-shirt?

The Logo Configurator previews a T-shirt in any of our 136 colours, which is a good guide to size and position. If you would like to see it on a different garment, send us your logo and tell us what you have in mind, and we will advise on placement.

What happens after I save my preview?

Use the Save Front and Save Back buttons to download an image of your design and email it to hello@workwearprinting.com. We will turn it into a proper quote, and nothing gets stitched or pressed until you approve it.
