The Hidden Factor: Stabiliser
This is the part most customers never think to ask about, and it's often the biggest hidden factor in the price. Stabiliser is the backing material used underneath the fabric during embroidery, and how much of it a job needs depends entirely on the garment:
Thin fabrics — t-shirts especially — need more stabiliser. The fabric alone isn't stable enough to embroider cleanly, so more backing is needed, which pushes the price up.
Thicker, sturdier fabrics need much less. Soft shell jackets, gilets, body warmers and polo shirts are all naturally stable enough that they need comparatively little stabiliser — keeping the cost down.
Why We Don't Charge One Flat Rate
A lot of the bigger names in this space charge a fixed "standard area" fee no matter how small or simple your design is. We think that's unfair on anyone who just wants a few words or a small, delicate design — they shouldn't pay the same as someone with a full chest-sized logo.
